A shoe is not more important than the life of those who protect me. I will tell them to try to go to the car faster (the shoes can be recovered, if someone doesn't sell them on Ebay first, because they belong to a former president).
"the shoes can be recovered" are words the agents would have heard while I was rushed to the car and if any of them had tried to recover them or just as a precaution, I would have told them to leave the shoes. I kept the Ebay phrase to myself, when I was writing my autobiography. I didn't raise my hand, to send a message to people, not knowing if there was one assassin, two or a hundred.
